Cape Argus Cycle Tour in 3D – Flickr pic of the dayMar 21, 2010

Cape Argus in 3D

This photograph, of cyclists during the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Tour 2010, was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Bruce aka smee.bruce.

Bruce says: “I’m at the top of Edinburgh Drive most years and this year, because of the ‘Armstrong’ factor, the crowd was larger than usual.

“There was no natural light to speak of, so I knew the exposure would be long and that the flash would fire. I whip-panned the cyclists and they were largely frozen by the flash. The pan left the spectators blurred. The whole picture was underexposed, which is why I went black and white. The framing is called OOB or ‘out of bounds’, which gives the picture a 3D effect (just something I’m playing with at the moment).”

Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
