Today's 42km Cape Town Marathon was won by Zimbabwean Gilbert Mutandiro in a time of 2:19:16. Second place went to Lungile Gongqa (2:19:23) and Mike Fokoroni finished third in a time of 2:21:04. All three run for Mr Price.

The women's race was won by Alicen Manake, also of Zimbabwe, in a time of 2:51:36.

It may not have been the greatest day as far as weather was concerned, but this didn't stop passionate spectators from turning up to show their support. The Cape Town Marathon offers a flat, scenic route, allowing runners to record fast times, while enjoying some fantastic scenery.

Organisers received praise for the way they informed runners of their times so quickly. "Cape Town Marathon people are so jacked up! Just got an sms with my time result," wrote @kathcakes on Twitter.
