Camps Bay swimmers – Flickr pic of the day

This image of swimmers braving the icy waters at Camps Bay was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Mark Kalkwarf aka everydayeyes.

Mark says, “Every Sunday morning my wife and I take a walk on Camps Bay beach. We go early to miss the crowds and the hot African sun. We have come to know the regulars who are either walking their dogs or, like us, soaking up the beauty of Cape Town. On this particular morning there was a group of very energetic swimmers who were training. The water was ice-cold but they marched in determined and ready. It was just them and the ocean.

“I do not limit myself to any one particular subject when shooting – I shoot what catches my eye and Cape Town is the perfect place for that. There is no shortage of culture, beautiful landscapes and street scenes to satisfy the most adventurous photographer,” he continues.

Cape Town’s beaches are world-renowned. Each beach has its own character, ranging from family to trendy. White sands, long summer days and bronzed bodies have people flocking to our shores.
