#BraaiDay: The #LoveCapeTown Way
Natalie Roos’ body was born in Johannesburg… but her soul was always Capetonian. At the age of 14, Natalie started work in the television industry, presenting popular local kids TV show, KTV. Ten years and another TV job later (presenting celebrity gossip show JIP on Afrikaans music channel MK), Natalie made the move down to Cape Town where she started her blog, Tails of a Mermaid (www.tailsofamermaid.com). Her love for the internet and all things communication-driven became a natural progression to a career in Social Media, where she worked in an agency managing the online presence, content and reputation of various brands.
Natalie’s passions include cats, communication and Cape Town.
On Tuesday 24 September, 2013, the weather played along beautifully and the smell of good old, South African braai meat was in the air all around Cape Town. If there's one thing South Africans love to do, it's braai, and by "braai" we obviously mean barbeque. What better way to celebrate our heritage than by introducing our #lovecapetown visitors to our proudly South African braai culture?
Cape Town's premier luxury property agency, Nox Rentals, invited us to celebrate at one of their spectacular Camps Bay properties; Hamaya House. With an unparalleled view of the sea and a bar stocked with Grolsch beers and Simonsig wine, the only thing left to organize was the music. So we invited local indie band Ashtray Electric (follow them on Twitter to find out where their next gigs are) to bring their accoustic guitars along and treat our guests to the best that the local music scene has to offer.
Locals were invited to enjoy the sunshine with us and share the #lovecapetown spirit across Facebook and Twitter. Follow our international visitors @insidetravellab @follow_colours as they explore the Mother City and get to know the city through the eyes of our locals: @missemmajude @guy_with_camera @brandslut_ @whatmyboyfriendwore @famkek @silverstreak2ov @lizetheunicorn @johannschwella @mshoneybeect @rudicronje and me, @natalieroos.
Follow the #lovecapetown campaign and share your love for the Mother City by tagging #lovecapetown across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Check out why everyone loves Cape Town on our #lovecapetown Wall.
