Blouberg sunset – Flickr pic of the day

This picture, capturing the calm just before the sunset, was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member John Wilkie.

John says, “This image was captured on one of those ‘stunning skies’ days we experience at this time of the year in Cape Town. Lots of high clouds forming during the day help to produce the most amazing, brightly coloured sunsets.

“On this particular day, having spotted the sky from my office window, I drove down to the Blouberg Strand area after work, hoping to capture a different kind of shot of our famous mountain.

“This image was taken at Eerstesteen, one of many beautiful stops along the road between Blouberg Strand and Melkbos, on the west coast. This beach area has recently been upgraded, with neatly laid out parking areas and beautiful pathways.

“When visiting this area one would typically find a combination of surfers, anglers and people walking their dogs, relaxing after a long day at work or just having a lovely sunset picnic.

“One can stop at any of the parking areas on this strip, walk no more than 30m (100ft) and be right on the beach, where you can have the most amazing views of Table Mountain and Robben Island.”
