Too many cooks won’t spoil the broth when the Bidvest World Chefs Tour Against Hunger kicks off in the Mother City on August 24, 2011.
In fact, between them the 24 chefs on the cooking roster for this delicious tour will conjure up a hearty donation for needy charities in Cape Town. Their aim is to raise R5-million for the development of feeding schemes that will benefit starving children throughout South Africa.
Festival-goers can indulge at the Food Festival to be held at the Southern Sun Cape Sun. They can also give their taste buds an international treat at the cooking demonstrations at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from August 24 to 26, when the chefs will be preparing treats from their home countries.
For just R10 you can help the fight against hunger by purchasing a chef’s hat. For the same price you can also download to your cellphone South African icon PJ Powers’ song and video Sing Children Sing that was specially recorded for the chefs’ tour.
Better yet, dress in your Sunday best for the exclusive gala dinner at the Southern Sun Cape Sun on August 27.
World renowned cooking maestros who will work their culinary magic during the tour include Guenther Prommer of Austria, Andreas Widmann of Germany, Shonah Chalmers of Canada and more.
Now in its third year, the tour is sponsored by Bidvest, which has invested millions in the cause, and Southern Sun, which provides accommodation for the visiting chefs. The 24 chefs visiting Cape Town join 200 gourmet colleagues who will visit other major cities in the country to assist in this fantastic fundraising project.
Tickets for the gala dinner are R393 per person and can be booked by calling +27 (0)11 482 7250. Please visit www.worldchefstour.com for more information about the Bidvest World Chefs Tour Against Hunger.
