Behind the scenes: the 2010 FIFA Final Draw

On Thursday, November 26, I went on the media tour of the FIFA Final Draw venue at the Cape Town International Convention Centre along with Cape Town Tourism.

It was really impressive to see the co-ordination and effort that has gone into this event. Much like Cape Town Tourism, which has the tagline “Ready to welcome the world”, the Final Draw venue is already set and “ready if this [the draw] had to happen tomorrow”.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup Final Draw will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre at 19h00 on December 4. The event will be streamed to huge screens at the Long Street Final Draw street party, which will be pumping all day long.

For more information on the free party in legendary Long Street, visit the Facebook page here.

Below are a few snaps I took with my camera-phone. The image quality is not the best, but the pictures give a sense of the magnitude of the event.
