Behind the scenes at Madama Butterfly – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay

Madama Butterfly is a touching love story about a beautiful geisha woman, Butterfly, and an American naval officer, Lieutenant Pinkerton.

I recently got the opportunity to shoot behind the scenes at the Madama Butterfly opera at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town.

It was the most amazing experience to see the show on opening night and then spend two nights shooting backstage.

Watching the actors and actresses transform into character was fascinating and it didn’t take long for people to forget I was there and for me to start capturing the “real” images.

The make-up and costumes were amazing and it was incredible to see all the talented people working hard to ensure the show’s success.

Well done to the whole team and thanks for the opportunity.
