Bantry Bay – Flickr pic of the day
Stiaan says, “I live and work in Cape Town and I am lucky enough to drive around town a lot. On this night I finished work late in the Green Point area and I decided to go and look for some good sunset shots down by the beach front. The sunset was a little disappointing, but I decided to hang around a bit longer. It is amazing how the light just after sunset can transform a boring scene into something extraordinary. There were none of the amazing Cape Town cloud formations around, which adds to the minimalistic nature of the shot.
“The photo was taken from some rocks at Bantry Bay,” he continues. “This was about 20-30 minutes after sunset. It was a lot darker than it looks. I used a CPL filter and had the camera set to f/25. This is a 13-second exposure, so you can see the motion blur of the water and seaweed. Obviously the camera was on a tripod.”
Green Point has been called the Soho of Cape Town – with its funky restaurants and busy nightclubs, the place has an energy all of its own.
