Baboon encounter – Flickr pic of the day

This close-up portrait was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Ryan Michael.

Ryan says, “Packs of baboons are common in the Constantia hills near Tokai where I work. One day I was driving to meet a client and saw a huge family walking along the road.

“For me, being new to Cape Town, this was such a wonderful sight – they were so playful and funny. This cheeky fellow came up to the car and sat on a stump just high enough to look into the window. At first it scared me as I thought he wanted to come into the car!

“But once I’d closed all the windows and felt safe, I got up close and took this photo. He was quite a model and sat there for a few different poses before he lost interest and decided to try scaling a tree instead.

“This is just one of the wonderful experiences I have had in my short time in Cape Town. Being a photography enthusiast, I find this place suits me to a tee.”
