Cape Town Tourism and the City of Cape Town are just two of the sponsors bringing the prestigious annual Loerie Awards, which honour South Africa’s talented advertisers, to the Mother City this September.
For the past 30 years, the Loerie Awards have celebrated and recognised the talent and creativity that lies in the country’s communications industry.
“The Loerie Awards is a celebration of the best that the brand communications industry has to offer,” says Verona Alexander, public relations officer at Ads24, one of the event sponsors.
As a non-profit association, the Loeries rely on board members, stakeholders and companies for financial support, as well as their time and services. Major sponsors of the 31st annual Loerie Awards include the SABC, Cape Town Tourism, The City of Cape Town, Ads24 and Gearhouse South Africa.
The City of Cape Town will be buzzing during the event. The Good Hope Centre, where the awards will be dished out, now allows for an audience of 2 500 per night, the largest attendance since the inception of the awards.
“The city has been fantastic in its support of the event and there has been a flurry of activity in the past weeks getting the Grand Old Dame ready for the awards,” says Gearhouse South Africa marketing manager Robyn D’Alessandro. “I’m very confident that the Good Hope Centre is going to prove to be the perfect host to a spectacular event.”
Long Street will also be a centre of activity and is the official after-party scene. Visitors to the city can stay at the Grand Daddy Hotel, which Loerie Awards CEO Andrew Human believes is the epitome of “‘executive chic’ – luxury but not pompous – and suits the Loeries brand perfectly”.
Camps Bay will also host events during the day, including the Master and Savant Loeries Beach Soccer, a media lunch and the memorable Velocity Party.
The Loerie Awards festival will take place from September 24-27, 2009. The award ceremonies will be held on September 25 and 26, 2009.
