Alone at Noordhoek Beach – Flickr pic of the day
Craig says, “When you need to get out of the city without actually leaving the city, Noordhoek beach on the Cape Peninsula is a great option. On this day it was raining on arrival, but a few minutes’ wait in the car and we were rewarded with clear(ish) skies and a clear beach. Noordhoek beach is windswept and epic in scale it was great to be out on the sand in the rough weather. The cloudy skies provided amazing light for photography and I filled an eight gigabyte card in less than an hour!
“This particular picture from that day is an HDR composite. It’s made up of three exposures with a one-stop difference between them. Playing with HDR is great when there are significant differences between light and dark areas of the photograph and can create very moody images. However it can also be overdone and look unrealistic and downright horrible; I’m glad I kept to the right side of the line on this one.”
