Adderley Street flower seller – Flickr pic of the day
Thomas says, “This photograph was taken in the early morning on Adderley Street. A flower seller is busy arranging her street exhibition of the day’s goods brought in from the country. Around her stand friends giving her advice on how the display should look.”
The Adderley Street flower sellers and their colourful blooms are located in the market place in Cape Town’s main thoroughfare, between Strand Street and Darling Street, and within easy walking distance of Greenmarket Square. The flower sellers maintain a century-long tradition.
They are known for their spicy humour and beautiful blooms – which are typically inexpensive, fresh and make a great present for someone special or just for oneself.
