A Life Saver – Flickr pic of the day

Life-bouy

This photograph of a lifebuoy dedicated to Heather Bam at Blaauwberg Beach was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Caroline Kere.

Caroline says, “Walking along Blaauwberg Beachfront  with my daughter, we chanced upon what looked to my daughter like a life-sized “scarecrow” - at least that’s what it looked like from afar. On closer inspection we found out it was a lifebuoy dedicated to Heather Bam, who drowned here on 15 Dec 1911. I believe someone still has the keys? Once one breaks the glass and presses the handle down, what will happen?”

Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
