Cape Argus 2013: And Sunday’s weather will be ...

There are several of you who will remember the 2009 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour for its fierce south-easter, with gusts of 100km/h recorded on Chapmans Peak.

Of course, they don't call this the "Cape of Storms" for nothing, Fortunately, this year the weather patterns look to be behaving themselves on Sunday, on race day. At least for now.

A high-pressure system will be ridging just south of Cape Point on Sunday morning, putting the pressure "squeeze" (as meteorologists call it) on the Peninsula.

This means that locations from Muizenberg southwards look to be windy (35-45 km/h), while other points along the route seem to have reasonable winds in the forecast (20-30 km/h). The forecast looks dry with no rain in sight, and maximum temperatures reaching 28°C by midday.

Get out there and enjoy the Cycle Tour, everyone, and may the wind always be at your back!
