Hey there, it will be my first new years in cape town and only my escond visit there. I will be with my boyfriend and we have had many difficulties (to say the least) this last month and are looking forward to going out of this year with a bash, one thing is, we need to be up untill 7am or so as our flight leaves early on new years morning - no point in sleeping then at all as who wants to miss new years in cape town??!!? Seriously not us, what would you recommend in that case - Not more than R200 a person unfortunataley.

Hi, I am a frequent visitor to Cape Town, but need to get to Newlands. I am keen to try this bus service as it sounds great and is cheaper, but apart from hiking over to the trains, is there another service the city offers that goes from the airport to other areas, i.e. Southern Suburbs?
By Jamie on Nov 18, 2010. From the entry 'Review of MyCiTi Airport Shuttle between Cape Town International and CBD'
what a pathetic display of soccer from these boys. What utter nonsense. Who taught them to play the ball backwards everytime even when they managed to gain 10 yards every 10 min they had the ball. There was no midfield because the defense never played the ball forward to them so the midfield happily was also content without receiving the ball so therefore no striking power. I dont even want to talk about the riddiculous corners which were these hanging far far far post corners to god knows who.

I see in the Echo newspaper for the South Peninsula it says that Fish Hoek beach is NOT a place to let off fireworks this year. The City of Cape Town website does not list Fish Hoek either (http://www.capetown.gov.za/en/Pages/HandlewithcareDiwaliandGuyFawkesfireworks.aspx), so I phoned the City of Cape Town telephone number, and asked them, they were not able to help and had no clue! They referred me to Fish Hoek police station, where someone said that it will be OK….where can I find out for certain?

Hi, An empty weekend for a photographer, is like an empty canvas, we could always use something to do when we have nothing planned right? So with this in mind we created this series, one that will get you out doing what you love. The premise is simple: snap some photos over the weekend dealing with the weekends focus, and if you send them to us, or Tweet them to us, we will post them for others to see. Having a focus will help us as artists & photographers see things that we might not always see, make us take a shot at something we might otherwise have not. In seeing other photogs chase after the same focus, it can only breed even more creativity in our own work.

Hello visitors to Taste of Cape Town I am an online student of Gastronomy with the University of Adelaide and have somewhat randomly chosen to investigate Taste of Cape Town for a paper on food tourism events. I would welcome any comments by visitors to this event which address any or all of these questions: 1) Who seemed to be the target for the event? Mainly Cape Town locals, visitors from other parts of SA or international visitors? Of the local visitors, what seemed to be the predominant demographic? 2) Did the range of providers for the event (restaurants and wineries) accurately reflect the range of food and drink available in Cape Town, Cape Province or SA? Did participating restaurant and winery staff provide information on issues such as organic production and local sourcing of food and drink? Was there any representation or participation on the part of the High School which provided the venue? 3) Was the range and scope of the festival to your satisfaction or do you feel it needs to expand or diversify in the future? Or should it “downsize” ? 4) Do you feel that the participation in the festival which you observed reflected the social diversity of Cape Town? It has been a few months since the event was held, but any comments which reflect your thoughts on the event would be very helpful to me. Sincerely Rob Rijkelijkhuizen

Cook-off’s are always so much fun especially when held in honor of such a worthy person.  I have always found that cooking and food in general is such a great way to bring people together, either for personal relationships or, like in this case, as a community.

I was one of the lucky people to stop by the stand at The Getaway Show on Sat and receive one of your awesome goodie bags, complete with a free short (which, for the first time ever, was exactly my size). Trying to get a bus schedule is like pulling teeth. We were told every 30 minutes, but no-one could say when this period starts; ie an actual time as opposed to frequency. Without actual times one could simply miss the bus by a minute and have to wait for another half hour for the next one and potentially miss a flight. No-one at the call centre was able to give clarity. Hit and miss. A pity for such a good bus and all the effort gone into the construction. Also NO parking at the city hub - have to drop and go in the street. Come on folks, it’s almost all there.

I drive past the Cooling Towers everyday to work and during the last week before the demolition I felt very sad.  I know it was just there and serving no purpose to me but the point is that it was there.  Now when I pass and look and the rubble I feel this huge emptiness.  I miss the towers.  I miss seeing it, seeing it from afar like UCT.  I feel really sad
