100 Days to Kickoff competition winners

Cape Town celebrated100 Days to Kickoff today, with a mass Diski Dance at Cape Town Stadium. Cape Town Tourism went on air on 567 Cape Talk during their weekly feature Time out Tourist, promising a Cape Town branded soccer ball for the first 100 people to contact them by email.  A number of keen listeners have already collected their prize, along with a very cool backpack, from our office.

International Design Indaba: Local is lekker

Photo courtesy Joe Gazman If tonight’s UEFA Champions League game between Inter Milan and Chelsea was a dish, the cooking of it would be a steamy affair, and yet the dish itself would be somewhat bland. For the first time since he left London’s Stamford Bridge in September 2007 for the slightly warmer post at the San Siro in June 2008, “The Special One”, as Inter coach Jose Mourinho is known, will come up against his old employers.

Swiss brothers return for Cape Epic 2010

Hiking the Hoerikwaggo Trail

The tented camp at Orangekloof The Hoerikwaggo Trail, as from January 2010, offers visitors the option of a one- or two-night stay. Both trail options start at the Platteklip Wash House, in the Oranjezicht area. The overnight facilities at the Platteklip Wash House sleep 24, while the Overseer’s Cottage sleeps 16.

Ruud Gullit in Cape Town – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay

In December 2009, just before the Final Draw, soccer legend Ruud Gullit and other Dutch football stars such as Pierre van Hooijdonk visited Hout Bay, to treat children from Hout Bay and Imizamo Yethu, as well as from Philippi and Gugulethu, to a soccer clinic. It was a day to remember.

Cape Town City Sightseeing bus tour in pictures

Spectacular Table Mountain, one of South Africa’s most iconic attractions Last week, two colleagues and I spent a few hours on an open-top bus tour of Cape Town, courtesy of City Sightseeing. We chose the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour, which costs R110.00 for adults and R60.00 for children aged 5-15 (kids under five are free), and is fabulous value for money, because you can spend the entire day on the tour if you like, and get to see some of Cape Town’s top attractions.
