Dan NichollFounded by Raymond Ackerman, the Clovelly golf club was the first South African sports facility to break down apartheid’s strict regulations in the 1970s. Today, it’s better known as a short but challenging layout that’s gentle in still conditions, but a fierce test when the wind gets up.
Rob PetersSummer in Cape Town means festivals. Music festivals, wine festivals and just plain old festive festivals! The Mother City is always up for a party and the warmer months just give us more of an excuse to shed the layers and cut loose. Check out some of the best festivals coming up.
Rob Peters“If ever you miss a dinner date with your girlfriend, common sense tells you that you’d better have a good excuse. Which I did… on both counts. And my excuse was outstanding. I was attacked… by a lion… at an office party… in a strip club… in Jo’burg. Well… ok… let me go back to the beginning.” And so starts ‘Wild’, a highly-entertaining one-man show starring multi-award breaking comic Robert Fridjhon.

The game was played beneath an incredibly blue sky and a crowd of 20 000 jubilant spectators. The event went off without a hitch, and it was a privilege to be there on this historic day.

Fish Hoek beach, photo courtesy Ian Junor It was quite weird and slightly frightening hearing about the shark attack on Fish Hoek beach. Six years ago I was in Perth when a shark appeared in the middle of a surfski school class. The last fatal shark attack on Fish Hoek beach had happened just weeks before, in November. I was shocked and surprised, as it was totally unexpected and out of the ordinary.
