    Why Rob Vember loves Cape Town

    Rob Vember is a radio DJ and proud Capetonian. He grew up in Cape Town and studied in Grahamstown, where, working at the campus station, he was bitten by the radio bug. Returning to the Mother City to join the DJ line-up on Heart FM, he then made the move to Johannesburg to become part of the 5FM team, where he has been for the last few years. He recently made the move back home to continue presenting his weekday show from 5FM’s Cape Town studios. We asked him what he loves about the city.

Kapstadt ist wunderbar!

Visitors flock from every part of the world to experience Cape Town, and everything it has to offer. And its picturesque beauty also makes for a great backdrop for capturing that visit in photos or on video. German musical group Büro am Strand recently visited the Mother City, and documented their experience. They also very cleverly filmed a music video while they were here. The track is called Mit Der Welt Zufrieden, which translates as Satisfied with the World. Although the lyrics are in German, anyone who watches the video can get a sense of the carefree, lively and welcoming energy of Cape Town that the band captures so well. Check it out here.

My Good Food & Wine Show experience in Instagram

I confess this was my first visit to the Good Food & Wine Show in a long time. With more than 200 stands in the vast CTICC venue over four days from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 May, 2013, I was amazed at the event’s growth over the last few years. The stalls, some far more fabulous than others in both product and appearance, offered everything from food and wine to everything in between that relates to the home.

Happy Africa Day!

Today is Africa Day, in commemoration of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, which became the African Union in 2002. Although not a public holiday in South Africa, the day is still recognised as an important celebration of African unity. This year will be the 50th celebration of Africa Day.
