We asked local Capetonian blogger Dawn Jorgensen to share her Top 5 places to take a first time visitor to Cape Town and this is what she had to say: “The decision to visit Cape Town by any tourist or friend should be richly rewarded with a list of the must-sees on offer. In a city like ours, it isn’t easy to narrow these down to just a handful and when I was thinking about the Top 5, my mind – and heart, burst with recommendations. These making my final list.”
With Spring finally here after a long winter, we can officially start saying things like “summer is just around the corner”. This means that at long last, we will all be emerging from hibernation and going out more. These are my Top 5 Cape Town hot spots right now.

Here’s a collection of our favourite #CapeSnow pictures from all over the web.

I’m not a Capetonian by birth, but by breed. I’ve lived in this beautiful city since October 2010 and am still in awe of her beauty every day. Cape Town always quietens during the winter months, which means that there are some fantastic winter specials running everywhere from hotels to restaurants, spas and salons. I like to take full advantage of these in the colder months. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourite things to do in Cape Town in winter.
Winter is the perfect time to indulge in lots of good food and fantastic wine ... after all, no one is going to see what’s under those bulky clothes for a good few months! What better way to make the most of the “eating season”, as I have affectionately dubbed it, than with one of Cape Town’s many winter specials? I was invited to experience Harbour House V&A’s new winter menu and let me tell you, it’s a treat!
I recently spent some time discovering all that the Helderberg has to offer, from places to stay to things to do. You can read all about it here: Where to stay in the Helderberg, and here: Things to do in the Helderberg. Here are a few pictures I took on Instagram along the way.
The suburb of Kenilworth forms part of Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs. Sandwiched between Wynberg and Claremont, this suburb is nestled right in the heart of the Southern Suburbs action. Situated within Kenilworth is the famous racecourse, not to mention the shopping mecca, Access Park. A 20-minute drive takes you to the city centre or any of the beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard. These are our top things to do in Kenilworth.
Winter can be brutal for those less fortunate, and Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula have already felt the full force of winter over the past few weeks ... and there is plenty more icy, wet weather to come. Give a little love this winter and drop a blanket with any of Cape Town Tourism’s Visitor Information Centres for the Cape Point Blanket Drive.
Winter in Cape Town can mean cold and wet days. But Iziko Museums is providing lots of comfort to keep families warm this winter.
Between the hiking and mountain-biking trails, horse riding, wine and beer tasting, wildlife encounters, spectacular beaches, golf courses and mouth-watering restaurants, there are hardly enough hours in the day to explore all that the Helderberg has to offer!
