I’m not a Capetonian by birth, but by breed. I’ve lived in this beautiful city since October 2010 and am still in awe of her beauty every day. Cape Town always quietens during the winter months, which means that there are some fantastic winter specials running everywhere from hotels to restaurants, spas and salons. I like to take full advantage of these in the colder months. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourite things to do in Cape Town in winter.

Winter is the perfect time to indulge in lots of good food and fantastic wine ... after all, no one is going to see what’s under those bulky clothes for a good few months! What better way to make the most of the “eating season”, as I have affectionately dubbed it, than with one of Cape Town’s many winter specials? I was invited to experience Harbour House V&A’s new winter menu and let me tell you, it’s a treat!

The suburb of Kenilworth forms part of Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs. Sandwiched between Wynberg and Claremont, this suburb is nestled right in the heart of the Southern Suburbs action. Situated within Kenilworth is the famous racecourse, not to mention the shopping mecca, Access Park. A 20-minute drive takes you to the city centre or any of the beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard.
