Top three weekend picks for Cape Town

The winter months have seen a drop in temperature but entertainment is definitely heating up. There’s so much to see, do and explore in Cape Town this winter, from catching a show or local movie or exploring unknown parts of our city. It’s difficult to choose what to do in this cosmopolitan city of ours and with so few hours in a day, seeing them all in a short space of time poses a challenge. But if you need some ideas here are my top three activities that I will be doing this weekend.

Kommetjie boardwalk – Flickr pic of the day

Kommetjie’s main attraction is its wide, long, beautiful beach which is a popular dog-walking and horse-riding venue. About 3km down the beach you’ll come across the wreck of the SS Kakapa, which ran aground in 1900. It is also famous for surfing and cray fishing.

The Two Oceans Aquarium offers penguin encounters where one can interact with rockhopper penguins. Boulders penguin colony sees these marine creatures roam free. Or head to Robben Island and encoutner the feathered friends there.
