Known as “the world’s most beautiful marathon”, the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon will take runners on a scenic tour of the Peninsula, with the Half Marathon set in the Southern Suburbs and the Ultra Marathon along the Chapman’s Peak Route.
The winter months have seen a drop in temperature but entertainment is definitely heating up. There’s so much to see, do and explore in Cape Town this winter, from catching a show or local movie or exploring unknown parts of our city. It’s difficult to choose what to do in this cosmopolitan city of ours and with so few hours in a day, seeing them all in a short space of time poses a challenge. But if you need some ideas here are my top three activities that I will be doing this weekend.

Kommetjie’s main attraction is its wide, long, beautiful beach which is a popular dog-walking and horse-riding venue. About 3km down the beach you’ll come across the wreck of the SS Kakapa, which ran aground in 1900. It is also famous for surfing and cray fishing.
Noordhoek beach is a popular spot for horse rides along a white, sandy beach that stretches for miles. For visitors, there are a number of places where you can book your place on trails through the wetlands and along the beach. Contact Cape Town Tourism for more information.

April 25, 2012 marked World Penguin Day. Cape Town has a variety of attractions to spot and African Penguin. The Two Oceans Aquarium offers penguin encounters where one can interact with rockhopper penguins. Boulders penguin colony sees these marine creatures roam free. Or head to Robben Island and encoutner the feathered friends there.
