Cape Town Green Point Urban Park open

Situated in Green Point next to the Cape Town Stadium, which was used for the FIFA 2010 World Cup™, the multipurpose 10.5 hectare park is open seven days a week from 07h00 to 19h00.

Cape Town has cabs: Don’t drink and drive

Drunk driving is one of the biggest threats to road safety in South Africa and over the festive season the temptation to drink and drive increases. The 2009/ 2010 annual report by the Road Traffic Management Corporation reported 1 307 fatalities in the Western Cape alone, versus 13 923 deaths nationally. Cape Town Tourism would like to urge all locals and visitors to Cape Town to be responsible this summer holiday by refraining from drinking and driving.

Cape Town has scored another touchdown for South African tourism by beating Vancouver and New York into top spot as Favourite Worldwide City – as voted by readers of UK online news journal The Telegraph. The Mother City’s Telegraph Travel Awards win comes courtesy of 17 000 Telegraph readers polled on their favourite travel companies, airlines, countries, cities and other travel-related topics.

J&B Met 2012 attracts creatives, celebrities and cool Capetonians

For anyone interested in horse racing, fashion or socialising, the J&B Met is the one event in South Africa you shouldn’t miss. On Saturday, some 50 000 people made their way to Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town for the 2012 J&B Met, the 35th version of this event.

Cape Town Carnival: Long Street awash in spectacular colour – photos

Long Street lit up with a spectacular show of colour on Saturday, March 19, as the Cape Town Carnival parade headed up the famous one-way street. Feather boas, glitter, Harley-Davidsons and reams of partygoers all helped to make the spectacle reminiscent of the Rio Carnival, but ours had a wonderfully South African flavour. Cape Town awarded Top City in Africa and the Middle East prize

Cape Town has done it again, scooping Top prize in Travel + Leisure’s annual online poll of best destinations and establishments in the world. Cape Town was awarded the the accolade of the World’s Top City in Africa and the Middle East in the 2012 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards as well as being ranked fourth overall in Top 10 Cities list. Additionally, Cape Town’s The One&Only Hotel was ranked as the Top Hotel in Africa & Middle East.

Carols by candlelight attracts thousands to Kirstenbosch

Carols by candlelight, held at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden from Thursday to Sunday, concluded with last night’s gathering of around 6 000 people. There wasn’t an uncovered blade of grass in the concert area, as families, friends and visitors gathered to sing carols, waves candles, and take in views of Devil’s Peak.

The Cape Floral Kingdom – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay

The Cape Floral Kingdom was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2004. Many of the beautiful indigenous flowers that form part of the kingdom can be seen in the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
