Mother City lovers, today is December 12, 2012…12/12/12, the last time our generation will ever experience a sequential date this century (the next one will be January 1, 2101!) Big deal, I hear you say… but in the spirit of keeping things fun (and in Cape Town, when are they not?), I‘ve put together a list of 12 amazing things to do in the Fairest Cape today:

World Tourism Day on Friday 27 September, 2013 was an auspicious occasion for #LoveCapeTown‘s wonder of nature, Table Mountain , as it celebrated its new status as co-signee of the Responsible Tourism Charter with the City of Cape Town and unveiled a large picture frame, which provides an iconic view of the mountain from the V&A Waterfront.
NerdzSquared, two multi-talented YouTubers have been taking the online world by storm with their latest release, South Africa and their first music video –filmed right here in Cape Town.
I moved to this beautiful city 849 days ago (I am still counting, and enjoying every day in this fantastic city). Over the past two years I have spent a lot of time exploring Cape Town. Every corner you turn is like unwrapping a new gift, as there’s always something amazing to be discovered.
He is one of South Africa’s biggest musical entertainers and beloved television personalities but at heart, Emo Adams is and always has been a true Cape Town “boykie”.
You’ve heard her vibrant, upbeat voice on local radio station Heart 104.9FM’s Afternoon Drive show and seen her at events around the Mother City but do you know what makes the gorgeous Keri Miller #LoveCapeTown?
Oh my. It’s that time of the year where classic style and fashion are put aside for the celebration of avante-garde looks and one-of-a-kind garments that are either custom-made for the J&B Met, happening at the Kenilworth Racecourse on Saturday 2 February, 2013 – or dramatically altered retail store dresses and tresses which make the cut for this annual themed horseracing event.
The sounds of Cape Town would not be complete without the beautiful call of the mosque that emanates from the colourful, characterful Bo-Kaap.
Quirky Observatory is the bohemian soul of Cape Town … it is here where you will find some of the Mother City’s most interesting residents and visitors enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of this whimsical suburb’s numerous cafés, theatres and bars.

We’re in for a slightly cooler weekend in the beautiful Mother City this weekend, Cape Town fanatics, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. It’s Wednesday in the inspirational Mother City, friends, and that means I want to know Where Would You Rather be in Cape Town today.
We recently opened our Instagram account, where we’ll be posting weekly #InstagramDiary trends in exciting things to do and see in Cape Town ... as well as lots of other pictures in between.
Bloggers love South Africa – we know this from our #LoveCapeTown campaign. This campaign saw us bringing four international travel bloggers (@traveldudes @velvetescape @landlopers and @wildjunket) to Cape Town in July 2012 during a social media drive in which Capetonians interacted with the bloggers and their followers, telling the stories of Cape Town and her people.
So, it’s the middle of January (or, as our team likes to call it, Januworry) and you’re broke, but you simply HAVE to start shopping for that über-fabulous J&B Met, Swedish House Mafia or Madame Zingara outfit. Stash those credit cards, my frugal friends, and come and hunt for bargains with me at these shopping spots in Cape Town from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 January, 2013.
The V&A Waterfront is South Africa’s most visited tourist attraction. With its combination of popular nightspots, restaurants, shops, museums and things to see and do, this is one place never to miss on even the briefest of visits to Cape Town. Take a peek at some of the sights at the Waterfront in our photo essay below, compiled from Creative Commons images taken by locals and travellers to the Mother City.
I confess this was my first visit to the Good Food & Wine Show in a long time. With more than 200 stands in the vast CTICC venue over four days from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 May, 2013, I was amazed at the event’s growth over the last few years. The stalls, some far more fabulous than others in both product and appearance, offered everything from food and wine to everything in between that relates to the home.
The only thing greater than my passion for Cape Town is my passion for its food. I have often waxed lyrical about my top breakfast spots, lunch venues and all-you-can-eat buffet joints, but have yet to share my favourite dinner spots. I love breaking bread with you (even if it’s only virtually), so here are my top three Cape Town dinner spots:
I am often stopped mid-sentence, mid-meeting, mid-shopping, mid-flight and mid-just-about-anything by someone wanting to know where I got my unique wedding ring from. To say that it has become a bit of a talking point is putting it mildly. I am always only too happy to rave about my favourite Cape Town creatives – Olive Green Cat. Weird name, I know, but it says something about this brilliant design trio: unique, tongue-in-cheek, contemporary, individualist and, above all, passionately Capetonian.
“It’s blooming beautiful!” - That was the overall sentiment of Cape Town’s media and tourism VIPS at the launch of the South African National Biodiversity (SANBI) Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens’ Chelsea Flower Show Exhibition at the V&A Waterfront on Friday 30 August, 2013.

The suburb of Kenilworth forms part of Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs. Sandwiched between Wynberg and Claremont, this suburb is nestled right in the heart of the Southern Suburbs action. Situated within Kenilworth is the famous racecourse, not to mention the shopping mecca, Access Park. A 20-minute drive takes you to the city centre or any of the beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard. These are our top things to do in Kenilworth.
