Fazielah WilliamsAre you ready to be scared silly, #lovecapetown? It’s my all-time favourite holiday of the year, Halloween, on Friday 31 October, 2014, and the spooky Mother City’s streets are about to come alive with the undead!
Fazielah WilliamsWoohoo, it’s the weekend, baby!
FeaturedGet in touch with your most authentic self amongst the gorgeous fruit fields of Cape Town and take home the freshest of the fresh for your next culinary creation. There’s nothing more invigorating - especially when you add a glass of wine to the mix!
Fazielah WilliamsSure, the December break is two months away and you cringe every time someone sends out one of those annoying “Countdown to Christmas” emails but admit it, you’re excited that your year-end party is just weeks away, right?

We live in a truly beautiful Mother City with a multitude of inspirational and iconic attractions, and friends, that is where I would rather be this Wednesday in Cape Town.
Baby, it’s cold outside ... Cape Town lovers and friends, it’s been a chilly few days in our beloved Mother City. And if you weren’t hibernating indoors, chances are you were outside photographing the powerful hail storm on Sunday June 2, 2013.
Drinking tea is a gentle, languid pastime and there’s no shortage of amazing places to indulge in an excellent blend in our gorgeous Mother City. I did a tea meander in the Cape Town CBD and surrounds, and these are a few amazing places to sip and savour the leaves – be they from Ceylon, China, prepared by the Earl, or plucked in the Cederberg, like our local pride and joy, rooibos.
The sounds of Cape Town would not be complete without the beautiful call of the mosque that emanates from the colourful, characterful Bo-Kaap.
Cape Town just begs to be photographed from every angle. From the beaches to the mountain, the people, the wine farms and, of course, the coffees, the Cape is an Instagrammer’s dream come true. I recently spent a morning at Cape Point and left with more images than I knew what to do with.
They’ve been spreading their “Magic of Compassion” all over the Peninsula by mobilising #BlanketWings, a huge blanket donation drive to bring winter warmth to the Mother City’s less fortunate residents, and now Cape Town Angels will round off their virtuous efforts with a heavenly final drop-off event at the chic Alexander Bar & Café on Friday 31 May, 2013.
Open Streets is a citizen-driven initiative, working to design and promote streets which embed and generate respect for people, regardless of who they are, and how they move. Not to mention ... a great opportunity to get some amazing Instagram shots!
Let’s say cheers to the successful third annual TOPS Gugulethu Wine Festival, held on the rooftop of the Gugulethu Shopping Mall in Cape Town from Friday 24 to Saturday 25 May, 2013.
I confess this was my first visit to the Good Food & Wine Show in a long time. With more than 200 stands in the vast CTICC venue over four days from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 May, 2013, I was amazed at the event’s growth over the last few years. The stalls, some far more fabulous than others in both product and appearance, offered everything from food and wine to everything in between that relates to the home.
Long Street is one of Cape Town’s most iconic streets, and with the incredible variety of food, fashion, nightlife spots, book stores, antique stores, street vendors and international visitors lining the sidewalks, it’s easy to see why. But don’t let all of this distract you from one of Long Street’s finest features: the awesome architecture.
With almost half-a-million followers between them, Germany’s top two Instgrammers, Thomas Kakareko and Sylvia Matzkowiak, are racking up the “likes” as they Instagram their way through Cape Town.
Recently, the inaugural Nightjar Adventurer 2013 Awards took place at the Cape Union Mart Adventure Centre at Canal Walk. Well over 100 adventure enthusiasts packed out the venue, having read the adventurers’ stories over the past weeks but having no idea what to expect next. Well, even their best guesses would have missed the mark: the evening turned into a comedy hour, with the speakers and winners brilliantly recounting some of their more amusing adventuring mishaps.
He is one of South Africa’s biggest musical entertainers and beloved television personalities but at heart, Emo Adams is and always has been a true Cape Town “boykie”.
Beautiful Cape Town has played hosted to a number of top international journalists and bloggers in the past year, including National Geographic’s Digital Nomad Andrew Evans and Matt Long of @LandLopers, who visited along with his fellow #lovecapetown iAmbassadors, and they sure have been vocal about Where They Would Rather Be on Wednesdays in the Mother City.
There are few things I enjoy more than exploring my beautiful Cape Town and her gorgeous surrounding towns, so my adventures with South African National Parks are a real treat. Marking a year since our first trip to the West Coast in April 2012, our media family set off for the luscious shores of the Agulhas National Park on Friday April 19, 2013.
It’s May in the Mother City ... and you know what that means, don’t you? It’s time for the third annual TOPS Gugulethu Wine Festival, which runs from Friday May 24 to Saturday May 25, 2013.
“Many professional golfers are wine aficionados, and worldwide recognised names have launched or are in partnership with vineyards throughout the world.” This quote is by golf and travel writer Michael Cunningham, writing in the Wineries Refined magazine in British Columbia, Canada.
They came in their thousands, they screamed at the top of their lungs and boy, did they Believe! Canadian pop star Justin Bieber had scores of Cape Town’s teenage girls (and their moms) enthralled at his sold-out concert at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday 8 May, 2013.
“Whoaah, we’re halfway there, Whoaah, livin on a prayer …” If you still have chills running up and down your spine thanks to the crowd and Bon Jovi’s amazing a capella singalong to this popular hit, chances are you partied like a rock star with the legendary band at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday 7 May, 2013!
I don’t often experience the sensual seafood tastes of a restaurant in Cape Town, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity to review the impressive menu at Live Bait in Kalk Bay on Saturday 27 April, 2013. With its spectacular views of Kalk Bay Harbour (one of its walls is actually the breakwater of the harbour) and the Atlantic Ocean, this seaside eatery is the perfect lunch spot. Patrons lucky enough to get a table at the floor-to- ceiling windows facing the ocean will spot a seal or two frolicking in the waves.

Bloggers love South Africa – we know this from our #LoveCapeTown campaign. This campaign saw us bringing four international travel bloggers (@traveldudes @velvetescape @landlopers and @wildjunket) to Cape Town in July 2012 during a social media drive in which Capetonians interacted with the bloggers and their followers, telling the stories of Cape Town and her people.
