Founded by Raymond Ackerman, the Clovelly golf club was the first South African sports facility to break down apartheid’s strict regulations in the 1970s. Today, it’s better known as a short but challenging layout that’s gentle in still conditions, but a fierce test when the wind gets up.

A visit to Cape Town is not complete without a drive out to the Helderberg region of the Cape – the areas around Somerset West, Gordon’s Bay and the Strand, that lie under the shadow of the Helderberg Mountains (Afrikaans for “clear mountain”).
