Recently, the inaugural Nightjar Adventurer 2013 Awards took place at the Cape Union Mart Adventure Centre at Canal Walk. Well over 100 adventure enthusiasts packed out the venue, having read the adventurers’ stories over the past weeks but having no idea what to expect next. Well, even their best guesses would have missed the mark: the evening turned into a comedy hour, with the speakers and winners brilliantly recounting some of their more amusing adventuring mishaps. -

Road Closures for Cape Town Carnival 2012
Can you hear the rhythm of Afro-centric music playing through the streets of the Cape Town? Can you feel the pulsating beats of the drums through the city? Are you ready to be dazzled by the costumes and floats on display in the most urban of settings?
If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, you know it is time for the Cape Town Carnival 2012 on Saturday, March 24, 2012. The theme is Cape to Cairo: An African Odyssey, and it is set to attract thousands of spectators to the city’s Fan Walk on Somerset Road in Green Point.

As lovers celebrated Valentine’s Day in February, the city of Cape Town proudly launched the Green Point Urban Park to the public.
Situated in Green Point next to the Cape Town Stadium, which was used for the FIFA 2010 World Cup™, the multipurpose 10.5 hectare park is open seven days a week from 07h00 to 19h00.
Cape Town awarded Top City in Africa and the Middle East prize
Cape Town has done it again, scooping Top prize in Travel + Leisure’s annual online poll of best destinations and establishments in the world.
Cape Town was awarded the the accolade of the World’s Top City in Africa and the Middle East in the 2012 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards as well as being ranked fourth overall in Top 10 Cities list. Additionally, Cape Town’s The One&Only Hotel was ranked as the Top Hotel in Africa & Middle East.

Every day I pass a large mural on a dilapidated building on Albert Road in Woodstock. It is a painting of two Zimbabwean men, Juma and Willard, with the quote, “Inspire ourselves to inspire each other.” I read this message every day and in return, it inspires me. Street art is for everyone without the pretence of a gallery – it belongs to everyone and no one.

Roxette rocks Cape Town on first night in South Africa
