If laughter is the best medicine to cure ailments, then Cape Town’s Vodacom Funny Festival is the finest dispensary in the country when it comes to dishing out medicinal humour.
I spent an evening at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch where the festival is underway, and after three hours of being entertained by six comedic acts I walked away with an ache in my side and a smile on my face.

Doodsnikke at the Baxter Theatre’s Flipside
Doodsnikke, the Afrikaans adaptation of acclaimed actor and writer Sam Shepard’s 1978 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Buried Child, is currently showing at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch.
This production, starring local theatre legends Gys de Villiers, Anna-Mart van der Merwe, Oscar Petersen and Ivan Abrahams, and rising talents Albert Pretorius, Travis Snyders and Thenjiwe Stemela, will run until 5 May 5,2012.

Cape Town’s Fanwalk was awash with vibrant colour as the third annual Cape Town Carnival exploded on Saturday March 24, 2012.
More than 100 000 spectators descended onto the Fanwalk in Green Point to witness a spectacle that boasted no less than 11 pods for its Cape to Cairo theme.
