Even if you don’t know much about photography or your camera, a photographic day tour in the Cape is the perfect way to learn how to use your camera and take some awesome photographs. There is so much to inspire the creative photographer in you, from the beautiful winelands, surrounded by magnificent mountains, to the Cape Peninsula’s craggy coastline and sunsets over the ocean.

Cape Photographic Company (www.capephotoco.co.za) guarantees that after a standard, specialised or customised photographic day tour, your photography skills will improve dramatically. Tours are customised for beginners, amateurs and advanced photographers, and are conducted by a professional photographer and accredited tour guide.

Photographic day tours include a Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope tour, macro (close-up) photography tour, winelands tour, mountain pass tour, portrait and township tour, West Coast tour, and a shipwreck and lighthouse tour. Highlights include the quaint fishing village of Hout Bay, the fur seals on Duiker Island, the Boulders Beach penguin colony, the colourful beach huts at St James Beach and scenery, lighthouses and old, rusted shipwrecks at Cape Point.

Cape Town is a veritable melting pot of different cultures and people. Rastafarians in their colourful red, green and yellow garb hang out in the Bohemian suburb of Observatory and always make for interesting portrait material. The Bo-Kaap, with its many colourful houses, lends itself to the observant photographer and is reminiscent of the Cape of yesteryear, while the townships resonate with the sounds of kwaito and hip-hop. The city’s many flea markets, such as Greenmarket Square, also provide great subject material for photographers, as do top-notch eateries, historical attractions and music venues.

Business is conducted seven days a week. Half-day tours run from 09h00 to 13h00 and 13h00 to 17h00 at a cost of R650 per person. Full-day tours operate from 09h00 to 17h00 and cost R1 200 per person, including a light picnic lunch. A people and portrait township tour costs R850 per person.
