Long Street Baths

Long Street Baths image

The entrance to the Long Street Baths

Fancy a swim in an historic, circa-1908 swimming pool? If you’re keen for a change from sea and sand, head to the Long Street Baths, on the corner of Long and Orange streets in the Cape Town city centre, for an old-world bathe.

As you approach the imposing entrance to the baths, Table Mountain can be seen on your right, while the popular Long Street, which is a great hub of social activity at night, stretches to your left.

Turkish baths

The early 20th-Century building also houses original Turkish baths, with steam and dry-heat facilities, and a massage available on request to complete the beneficial treatment.

Upgrades

Over the years the pool and buildings have been upgraded without detracting from the original charm of the facility. A 25m-long heated indoor pool allows swimmers to keep their training on track throughout the year. The baths have separate male and female changerooms.

Hours

The pool is open daily from 07h00 to 19h00. Entry costs R12 for adults and R7 for children aged 3 to 15. Call ahead to make use of the Turkish baths facility.
