Cape Town International Airport is Africa’s third-largest airport. Having undergone an upgrade for the FIFA World Cup™, the airport now offers passengers and visitors a memorable experience and a great venue for conferencing and shopping.

Accolades include the Airports Council International’s 2010 Airport Service Quality Award for Best Airport in Africa and Best Improved in Africa, as well as the Best Airport in Africa for Staff Service Excellence in the Skytrax 2011 World Airport Awards.

Cape Town International Airport is home to a variety of restaurants, shops and services from African souvenirs and mementos, to health and beauty, food, music, books, sport and leisure wear. The airport has a world-class conference centre able to host up to 80 delegates at a time.

It is located 22km or about 20 minutes from the city centre and is easily accessible via taxi or rental car. The city has introduced a dedicated shuttle via its MyCiTi Bus service , which operates directly from the Civic Centre station in Hertzog Boulevard and the Cape Town International Airport. The airport service runs every 20 minutes from 04h20 to 21h50 at a cost of R53 per trip for adults, R26.50 for children of four to eleven years, while children under four enjoy the bus trip for free.

There are 21 different airline carriers operating from Cape Town International Airport, the only airport in the Cape Town area, and transporting several millions of people each year. Travellers from all over the world arrive and depart due to direct flights to London, Munich, Amsterdam, Dubai and Singapore. The airport is also home to local low-cost airlines such as Kulula and Mango, as well as major airlines such as South African Airways, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

The airport has also undergone major renovation to its parking facilities and now offers long-stay parking for special needs passengers, as well as valet services and short-term parking.
