Microlighting

See the world from a new perspective – from the windswept harness of a microlight, more fondly known as “the motorbike of the skies”. Whether you’re soaring above the waves or skimming overland with the rush of wind in your ears and adrenline-filled ozone in your nostrils, nothing can equal the intense sensory experience of microlight flight.
Aquila Microlight Photo and Film Safaris (www.aquilamicrolight.com) arranges trips around Cape Town, the West Coast and further afield. Whichever option you choose, Aquila will ensure that your flight is an unforgettable, magical experience. Every flight is digitally filmed and clients receive a copy of their trips to take home and relive the magic. Aquila is based at Wintervogel Airfield, on a privately-owned farm near Malmesbury. It takes an hour to reach the airfield from the city centre, and clients should arrive 15 minutes before their flight is booked to take off.
There are two microlight flight options available, a half-hour or hour-long trip. The shorter trip costs R850 per person and takes place in the vicinity of the airfield. Enjoy views of the Klipheuwel/Perdeberg area, home to animals such as zebra, antelope, jackal, ostriches, blue cranes, pelicans, flamingos and various birds of prey. The hour-long trip costs R1 250 per person and moves from the airfield along the West Coast, offering breathtaking views of Table Mountain, Table Bay, Robben Island, the Atlantic Seaboard, Cape Hangklip and the long, white beaches of the West Coast. In season whales may also be seen.
Aquila is open every day from early in the morning.

Ratanga Junction
Picture this ... You’re strapped into your seat, hanging under the track of a looping roller coaster that’s hurtling down a twisting track at about 100km/h. Screams fill the air, and you’re not sure you’ll live to savour the memories ... If that sounds like fun to you, then Ratanga Junction’s the place you need to be!
Lion’s Head
Lion’s Head forms part of the Table Mountain range and provides a scenic backdrop to the City of Cape Town.

Paragliding
It has long been a human dream to soar like a bird on lofty thermals – and paragliding comes pretty close. There couldn’t be a better place to experience the thrill of paragliding than high above the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, and the Twelve Apostles.
