Cape Point Ostrich Farm
The biggest bird in the world produces the biggest egg in the world and both of these can be found at the Cape Point Ostrich Farm on the beautiful Cape Peninsula.
The breeding farm, right next to the Cape Point National Park, gives a glimpse into the life-cycle of this amazing flightless bird which is indigenous to South Africa. If you are lucky you could witness an ostrich chick breaking out of its hard shell.
Their on-site restuarant serves a range of ostrich meat, from steaks to pate. The red meat is lean and contains hardly any cholesterol.
You can also buy intricately carved ostrich egg shells or an item made from ostrich leather.
