Cape Philharmonic Orchestra

Cape Town has had a symphony orchestra since 1914 and today it is one of only three full-time professional ensembles in the country.

The versatile Cape Philharmonic Orchestra appeals to a wide range of people. Whether it's playing traditional orchestra music at the City Hall, which boasts spectacular acoustics, or the Artscape with Cape Town Opera and Cape Town City Ballet, younger audiences join the older crowd in enjoying symphonic pops.

The Orchestra also has a massive outreach programme in which they teach disadvantaged children how to play classical instruments.
