Cango Wildlife Ranch
Cango Wildlife Ranch
Indulge all your African wildlife fantasies at this Oudtshoorn-based wildlife park, but don’t stop at African fantasies though, as there are a number of fascinating creatures from further afield here too. Oudtshoorn is a farming community in the Karoo, a short drive off the gorgeous Garden Route or the quaint “Route 62”.
Getting up close and personal
Not satisfied with just looking at a Nile crocodile lazing about like a log? How about a cage dive in the waters with this ferocious predator to liven things up? Want to address that fear of snakes? Perhaps wrapping a python around your body might go some one way to resolving that? Cat lover? Why not stroke the world’s fastest cat in a fully-grown cheetah? All these exciting interactions and plenty more are available at the Cango Wildlife Ranch. The Ranch is home to 47 species of animals and reptiles and offers the visitor a wildlife thrill second to none.
Kids are in the zone
There are a number of attractions on the ranch, including the Valley of the Ancients, which has a death-defying bridge spanning a crocodile-filled river, a snake park and a kidzone. The kidzone is a marvel for the young with bunny rabbits to cuddle and goats to stroke. If the little ones have had enough of the animals then there are slides and swings and much more to keep them entertained for hours. The animal encounters are not only for the brave of heart who are willing to go crocodile cage diving, but also for those wanting to cuddle cheetah cubs.
Have a bite
Of course one doesn’t have to get too close if you prefer to simply observe the wonders of nature from afar and if the animal action is too much for you then one can simply relax at the restaurant whilst the adventurers explore the “wilds”.
