Cape Town Tourism - Table Mountain

Abseiling in Cape Town

For centuries, mankind has looked upon climbing, hiking and scaling Table Mountain, our wonder of nature as the ultimate challenges – until the discovery of the exhilarating activity, Abseiling, that is!

These days, admiring the views of the Mother City while dangling 1000 metres above sea level, ala Tom Cruise in the feature film Mission Impossible II , is all the rage and both locals and visitors are flocking to Cape Town to experience this one-of-a-kind thrill.

Cape Town’s finest:

So, who to hire to help you achieve that heart-racing thrill? We recommend two of the best abseiling operators: Abseil Africa and Stellenbosch Adventure Centre.

Abseil Africa is every adventurer’s dream come to life. Slated as the world’s original highest commercial abseil, these guys have been helping people jump into the oblivion for more than 10 years and are renowned for having amazing packages that vary from the silly to the downright scary, giving you a global-worthy experience right here in the Mother City.

Don’t let the name fool you – Stellenbosch Adventure Centre not only prides itself on giving avid abseillers exactly what they ask for with a 112m drop down the face of Table Mountain but are also keen advocates of responsible tourism, ensuring that their adventurous offerings has a minimal impact on its surrounding environment.

What it costs:

The thrill of a lifetime ranges in price but is generally R 695.00 for a 45 minute session (this includes all necessary equipment, an experienced guide and a demonstration).
