The suburb of Athlone lies approximately 9 km west of Cape Town International Airport and forms part of the historically renowned Cape Flats. Many references are made to the Cape Flats as dumping ground of the Previous Apartheid Regime. “Today” however, the area exists as an inspiring of how different cultures can join together to overcome adversity and live happily.

The Athlone city centre is filled with the daily hubbub of grocers selling fresh produce and residence selling bric’n brac. Bursting with cultural diversity and heritage, the area is also home to the Joseph Stone Theatre which houses a superb selection of community productions. The area of Belgravia, in particular, boasts the fact that the acclaimed musician Jonathan Butler his youth there. Athlone also boasts the current upgrading sports facility Athlone Stadium, a variety of eateries, Wembley takeaways, Check Out Supermarket, close to a shopping mall (Vanguard Mall), religious and educational facilities.

The accommodation is also close to the free way for easy access to Cape Town Central Business District as well as beach and leisure facilities on the East coast (Monwabisi/ Swartklip) and the West coast (Milnerton), Emergency services are also at hand such as Red Cross Hospital, S.A. Police Service (Athlone), and Gatesville Medical Centre as well as all shopping and other facilities available in Gatesville and Rylands areas.
