Road Closures

Road closures during the World Cup event will be kept to a minimum. However, some roads will be pedestrian-only zones, while access to others will only be for vehicles with the necessary security clearance and event accreditation.

General road closures

On non-match days, for the full duration of the event, the following roads in the vicinity of the stadium will be closed or will have restricted access:

- Granger Bay Boulevard
- Fritz Sonnenberg Road
- Vlei Road
- Fort Wynyard Street
- Ebenezer Road between Port Road and Prestwich Street

In the city centre, Darling Street between Adderley Street and Buitenkant Street, together with the side roads feeding into Darling, will be closed for the full duration of the event to facilitate the activities associated with the FIFA Fan Fest™ on the Grand Parade. Lower Plein Street will be open daily only for one-way traffic in the direction of Table Mountain in the morning up to 09h30, after which the road will be closed to traffic.

On match days, the roads listed below will be closed to the general public, including freight and delivery vehicles, from seven hours before the scheduled kick-off, until approximately four hours after the final whistle, depending on security considerations:

- Hertzog Boulevard
- Heerengracht and Adderley Street between Coen Steytler and Strand Street
- Hans Strijdom Avenue
- Western Boulevard up to Beach Road in Three Anchor Bay
- Sections of Waterkant Street and Riebeeck Street
- Somerset Road from Buitengracht to Ebenezer Road
- Sections of Bree Street, Long Street and Loop Street around Waterkant Street
- Beach Road from Fritz Sonnenberg Road to Granger Bay Boulevard will have one carriageway closed to traffic, with the northern carriageway accommodating two-way traffic. Only one-way traffic will be allowed from Granger Bay Boulevard Circle via Beach and Portswood Roads onto Western Boulevard to Buitengracht and into town.

From June 24, Duncan Road will be opened from 15h00 to 24h00 to assist with traffic flow from the V&A Waterfront.
