The official public viewing areas are:

Vygieskraal Stadium, Athlone (with a capacity of 2500)

Bellville Velodrome, Bellville (with a capacity of 6000)

Swartklip Sport Complex, Mitchells Plain (with a capacity of 36000)

OR Tambo, Khayelitsha (with a capacity of 5000)

There will be plenty of entertainment before and after matches, with Cape Town’s best artists and international performers keeping your spirits high, regardless of how your team performs on the day.

If you are travelling, public viewing areas will also be set up elsewhere in the Western Cape, and you’re sure to find a television tuned to the latest match in every restaurant, bar and shopping mall in the region.

So, even if you don’t have a ticket, you can enjoy an unforgettable 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

Duration of event

The public viewing areas will be open on all Cape Town match days, all Bafana Bafana match days, and for the play-off matches. The venues will be open from 11h00 until 23h00 on these days.

Entry fee

Entrance is free.

How to get there

Vygieskraal Stadium, Athlone

Off Klipfontein Road
Accommodates 2 500 people indoors
Parking is limited to 4 500 cars

Swartklip Sport Complex, Mitchells Plain

Cnr Spine and Swartklip Roads
Within walking distance of Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain
Ample parking for buses, taxis and private vehicles
Accommodates 6 000 people indoors, and 30 000 outdoors

OR Tambo, Khayelitsha

Cnr Mew Way and Lansdowne Road
Within walking distance of Khayelitsha and surrounding areas, such as Mfuleni, Macassar and Driftsands
Accommodates 2 500 people indoors, and 2 500 outdoors

Bellville Velodrome, Bellville

Off Carl Cronjé Drive
Accommodates 6 000 people indoors
Parking is limited to 4 500 cars
Shuttle service from and to Bellville Station (3 km)

Do’s and don’ts

Aim to arrive at least three hours before the match begins. The venues have a limited capacity and will be closed when capacity is reached.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The following items may not be taken into any of the fan venues: aerosol cans, bottles, cans, cups, vacuum flasks, or any beverage containers other than official FIFA containers or sponsors’ products, glass, weapons, flagpoles, banner poles, laser pointing devices, pyrotechnics, sticks, poles, or umbrellas longer than 40 cm. These items will be confiscated.

PVAs have information kiosks, cash machines, medical assistance and security. Experience the excitement of the event the way many locals will.
